To start off the school year, students learned the keys on home row. They are: asdf jkl;. Students should be able to type these keys without looking!
As we continue to practice home row without looking at our fingers, we have also added on other letters: e r i o m n t c. We have been using several different resources to reinforce these skills, such as our Glence Keyboarding Text, and Google Classroom. Our latest resource is called Edutyping. This is an online program offered through RCPS. My goal is to have each student type each letter of the alphabet without looking at their fingers by the end of the nine weeks!
Students can access Edutyping at home. Go to the following link: http://www.edutyping.com/
By the end of the marking period, the students are expected to know all of the letters and key them with the correct fingers! They will be blindfolded and put to the test. Below is an example of the chart that will be used to test their knowledge. They may take the test as many times as they want until the end of the marking period. Practice at home!
