To start the year off we created sketchbooks using ink, texture, and text stickers. We then took what we learned to create a collage with handmade stickers. This year we will be exploring reasons to create art. This month we are focusing on telling others what is important to us and creating art with a message.
During September, students studied basic color theory. We applied our knowledge of color by creating a finger-painted background. We then designed a silhouette to go over that background. Check out the photos of the students in action and some of the finished results!
This month students are studying value and shading. We are using our skills from this simple candy drawing to create beautiful grid drawings. Below are some finished examples!
This month we are learning about Non-Objective art. We have done a couple of projects experimenting with different art materials to make interesting designs. Our first assignment had us gaining experience with watercolor. The second assignment had us printmaking with melted crayons. Check out some of our Non-Objective designs!
Wrapping up the semester, students were finally able to take home their completed Clay Treasure Boxes!
